This will have an effect on the nutrition facts as the protein content will be much lower. To boost the protein content, you could use whey protein powder instead. I hope this helps!

When I was counting macronutrients I noticed that I would get different numbers depending upon the brand of an ingredient that I used. When you are trying to keep carbs down to 20 grams per day, the slightest difference in brands can make a huge difference.

What about peanuts? For the chocolate in this recipe, we were able to use sugar-free dark chocolate chips. If you’re unable to find these, simply use an 85-90% dark chocolate (be sure there is no dairy) as this type of dark chocolate should keep the carb count low!

Since I’m currently in ketosis, my body is currently using ketone bodies for energy – the result of fatty acids broken down in my liver. There are two main ketone bodies, acetoacetate and 3-beta-hydroxybutyrate, that are used for energy (especially during the diet,) while acetone is the third, and is primarily excreted through your skin and urine during ketosis.

Tofu, Tempeh, Seitan, and other high-protein vegan “meats” Even though I added those into my diet, I may not have been getting enough, hence the leg cramps. I also may have had a few to many low carb cocktails that might have depleted said minerals. I have read other posts from vegans who went on the diet who had no problems. I don’t know if they were on it as long as I was, but it is something to watch out for.
